Your privacy matters

Your data deserves clarity.

AIToolBase helps you discover and compare AI tools. You can use the whole site without an account, and we never ask for your name or email. This page explains the small amount of information collected when you visit, who collects it, and the choices you have.

01 Introduction

AIToolBase (aitoolbase.site) is a directory and publication about AI tools. We list tools, group them into categories, workflows and stacks, compare them, and publish guides on our blog.

This policy explains what information is collected when you use this website and how it is used. It does not cover the third-party tools we list. Each of those has its own privacy policy, and those policies apply as soon as you visit or use them.

02 Information We Collect

Here is everything that is collected when you use the site, who receives it, and why.

WhatWho receives itWhy
Pages viewed, how you arrived, device and browser type, approximate locationGoogle, through Google AnalyticsTo understand which pages are useful
Anonymous page-view countsVercel, through Vercel Web AnalyticsTo measure traffic without cookies
Standard request data such as IP address, browser and the page requestedVercel (our hosting provider), and services that deliver fonts, images and videosTo deliver the page to you
Favourites, compare list and checklist progressNobody. It stays in your browserSo these features remember your choices

We do not ask for, and do not knowingly receive, your name, email address, phone number, payment details or any account information.

03 Information You Provide

You can use every part of AIToolBase without creating an account. There are no sign-up forms, newsletters, comment boxes or contact forms on the site.

The search box runs in your browser. When you search the directory, your search words become part of the page address (for example /tools?q=image), so they can appear in our analytics reports like any other page address. Please don't type personal information into the search box.

04 Automatically Collected Information

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found us. It records things like the pages you view, the site that referred you, your device and browser type, your language and your approximate location. Google says that in Google Analytics 4, IP addresses are not logged or stored.

Vercel Web Analytics. We also use Vercel Web Analytics for basic traffic counts. Vercel says it uses no third-party cookies, identifies visitors only by a hash of the incoming request that is discarded after 24 hours, and records page views anonymously, without tying them to an IP address (Vercel's documentation).

Hosting. Like any website, our hosting provider, Vercel, receives your IP address, browser details and the address of the page you requested so it can send you the page, and it may keep standard server logs to run and protect the service.

Fonts, images and videos. Some parts of a page load from other companies' servers. When they do, your browser sends those servers your IP address and browser details, which is how the internet works:

  • Google Fonts delivers the site's typefaces. Google says the Google Fonts API does not set or log cookies.
  • YouTube plays videos embedded in our guides, using its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).
  • Image hosts such as Unsplash, YouTube and the companies whose products we cover serve some article images.

05 Cookies and Similar Technologies

Analytics cookies. Google Analytics sets these first-party cookies, as listed in Google's cookie documentation:

CookieDefault lifetimePurpose
_ga2 yearsDistinguishes one visitor from another
_ga_<container-id>2 yearsKeeps track of the current session

Vercel Web Analytics does not set cookies.

Local storage. When you save a tool, add it to the compare tray or tick off steps in a guide, the site remembers that in your browser's local storage. This data is never sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data for aitoolbase.site removes it.

Embedded videos. YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode means, in YouTube's words, that views of our embedded videos are not used to personalise your YouTube experience. When you play a video, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site keeps working without them.

06 How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Understand which tools, categories and guides people find useful, so we can improve them.
  • Spot broken pages, slow pages and navigation that confuses people.
  • Deliver the website to your device and keep it running securely.
  • Remember your favourites, comparisons and checklist progress, on your own device.

We look at analytics in aggregated reports. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.

07 How We Share Information

The information described in this policy is handled by the service providers that make the site work: Google (Analytics, Fonts and YouTube) and Vercel (hosting and Web Analytics). Each processes data under its own terms and privacy policy.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal request. We do not sell or rent visitor information.

08 Third-Party Websites and AI Tools

AIToolBase is a directory. The tools we list are built and run by other companies and open-source communities. When you follow a link to a tool, sign up for it or upload files to it, your information goes to that provider, not to us.

We do not control how those tools collect or use data, and listing a tool is not an endorsement of its privacy practices. Before you share personal or confidential information with an AI tool, read its privacy policy and check whether your data may be used to train its models. Our guide on how to start using AI explains the settings that matter.

09 Advertising and Affiliate Links

AIToolBase currently shows no advertising, and links to tools do not carry affiliate or referral tracking. Tool listings are not paid placements.

Some YouTube videos embedded in our guides are made by independent creators whose video descriptions contain their own affiliate links. Where we know about this, we say so next to the video.

If we ever introduce advertising, sponsored listings or affiliate links, we will update this policy before doing so and label that content clearly.

10 Data Retention

  • In your browser: favourites, comparisons and checklist progress stay until you remove them or clear your browser's site data.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics keeps visit data for the retention period set in our Analytics account. Google offers 2-month and 14-month options for user-level data.
  • Vercel Web Analytics: Vercel says the visitor hash is discarded after 24 hours; aggregated page-view statistics remain in our Vercel dashboard.
  • Server logs: request logs are kept by Vercel, our hosting provider, according to its own retention practices.

11 Data Security

The best protection is not collecting data in the first place, so the site asks for no personal details. Pages are served over HTTPS, which encrypts the connection between your browser and our server.

No website or online service can promise perfect security. If you find a security problem on AIToolBase, please tell us using the details in Contact Us.

12 Your Privacy Rights and Choices

You are in control of most of this from your own browser:

  • Turn off Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies or enabling tracking protection in your browser.
  • Remove local data by clearing site data for aitoolbase.site in your browser settings.
  • Avoid third-party loading with browser extensions that block scripts or embedded media, though some pages may then look different.

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over your personal information, such as the right to ask what is held about you, to correct it or to have it deleted. Because we have no accounts, most of the data described here is held by Google Analytics rather than by us, and it is not linked to your name. You can still contact us with a request or question, and we will tell you what we can do.

13 Children's Privacy

AIToolBase is written for a general audience interested in AI tools and is not designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, please contact us and we will remove it.

14 International Data Transfers

Google and Vercel operate infrastructure in many countries. That means the technical and analytics data described in this policy may be processed in a country other than the one you live in, under those providers' own safeguards and terms.

15 Changes to This Privacy Policy

We update this policy when the site changes, for example if we add a feature that collects new information. The "Last updated" date at the top always shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will also point it out on this page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to use AIToolBase?

No. You can browse, search, save and compare tools without signing up, and no part of the site asks for your name or email.

Does AIToolBase sell my data?

No. The site does not ask for personal details, and we do not sell or rent visitor information. Visit statistics are measured with Google Analytics.

Where are my saved tools and comparisons stored?

Only in your browser's local storage. They are never sent to us, and clearing your browser's site data for aitoolbase.site deletes them.

How do I stop Google Analytics from tracking my visits?

Install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, block cookies for this site, or turn on tracking protection in your browser. The site works normally either way.

If I sign up for a tool I found here, who gets my data?

The company or project behind that tool. Its own privacy policy applies, so read it before you upload anything personal or confidential.

Do embedded YouTube videos track me?

We embed videos in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, so YouTube says views won't personalise your YouTube experience. When you play a video, YouTube's privacy policy applies.
